Four make the Cleantech Group’s list for most promising private cleantech companies & Agilyx finishes Runner-Up in Wall Street Journal’s Technology Innovation Awards
VANCOUVER, BC – Today, Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital, the world’s most active cleantech venture capital firm in 2010, announced that four of its investments – Agilyx, Bridgelux, HydroPoint, and Purfresh - have made the Cleantech Group’s 2011 Global Cleantech 100 list awarding the most promising private cleantech companies. The annual list recognizes early-stage organizations from around the world expected to make the biggest impact in clean technology over the next five to ten years. Additionally, Agilyx finished runner-up in Wall Street Journal’s Technology Innovation Awards in the “Energy” category for its patented system that economically converts difficult-to-recycle waste plastics into crude oil.
“Although we obviously see the strengths of the clean energy companies we invest in, it’s always helpful to receive outside industry validation from top organizations like this, and the expert judging panels they both utilize,” remarked Wal van Lierop, President & CEO of Chrysalix. “More importantly, seeing a clean energy start-up like Agilyx make the jump from a cleantech industry-specific award to one of the most prestigious mainstream technology awards in the business highlights the strength of their technology, and further illustrates what we see happening all around us – something we call the mainstreaming of cleantech. We congratulate each of our honoured companies in addition to EnOcean and O-flexx from the portfolio of our European partners, SET Venture Partners, who also made the top 100 list.”
Agilyx is part of Chrysalix’ most recent fund, CELP III, and makes the Global Cleantech 100 list for the first time, while Bridgelux, HydroPoint, and Purfresh, all from the Firm’s earlier CELP II Fund, have made the list in previous years.
